Do you think Kobe Bryant is using PED’s?

Jawmaster's Take
Kobe recently came out and announced that he has been “shattering” his Achilles recovery timetable.

“The normal timetable for recovery from an Achilles, we’ve shattered that. Three-and-a-half months I can already walk just fine, I’m lifting weights with the Achilles just fine and that’s different. So we don’t know what that timetable is going to be. It’s kind of new territory for us all.”

Kobe is a freak of nature but for someone at 34 years of age to proclaim he is way ahead of schedule from an injury as serious as a torn Achilles is dumbfounding.

In recent memory we have seen star players miraculously come back from injuries i.e Adrian Peterson but we have also seen players extend there recovery way beyond expectation i.e Derrick Rose. In addition, who is to say Adrian Peterson didn’t use Performance Enhancing Drugs?

Before Kobe injured his Achilles and proclaimed this amazing recovery, the one thing that always surprised me over the past few years with Mr. Bryant is that he has seemed to get better with age.

After the 2011 season Bryant received experimental platelet-rich plasma therapy called ‘Orthokine’ in Germany to treat lingering injuries and pain in his left knee and ankle. He started the 2012 season with an injured wrist but in a 4-game span starting on January 10th Kobe scored 48 (most by player in 16th season), 40, 42 and 42 points in consecutive games. Kobe has been challenging for the scoring title almost every year in his past three years and has been looking like an explosive 25 year old. He started his NBA career out of high school at the age of 18 and has had a lot of wear and tear to his body over the years, it just seems unusual for a player of his age with such a long demanding career to have not lost a step…

Bottom Line…

I am not saying it is not possible Bryant is just a beast, freak of nature, brute that has the ability to be so good for so long…but with history as our guide do we really believe this is the case.

Is Black Mamba comparable to a fine wine or is the former MVP compensating for a lost step with PED’s?
